Schwarzenegger doing FREE PR for SV companies in China

When Schwarzenegger brandished the business model Sunpower is taken as "a symbol of unlimited potential that we can realize" between C&C on his day two trip in China, instead of ridiculing his good intension and somewhat right vision on the potential synergy between C&C on clean technologies (Solar, fuel cell, biomass transformation, you name it), we ought to speak on the ground of facts.

First of all, Sunpower so far only assembles its solar products in
China and far from makes everything made-in-china. This is to completely take advantage of China's cheap labors to drive down solar production cost that eventually will pass down to American consumers. How many actual jobs are outsourced in this case? ZERO!!! (Since Sunpower is manufacturing in oversea facilities anyway. Then blame the American share holders, that's you and me, if you may since we are willing to reward Sunpower's model with a 40% price jump in its first day of trading on NASDAQ.)

Secondly,
China has a huge energy market and an increasing appetite for alternative energy resources. Meanwhile, California is a leader in the clean tech innovation arena. Who will make the most money, the innovator or the assembly worker? So why not visioning Invented HERE (CA), Made-in-China and Sold-to-China a competitive economic framework? The question is not whether it's doable or not, it's once the vision is set, how much follow-through efforts and by whom will be put to work.

Last, entrepreneurs in SV should be happy to know that China is a huge potential market to get into and Arnold is promoting what we do for FREE. So innovate more and create more opportunities for more Americans to participate and benefit from the process.
